I have tried to buy some today but it is not available and no one in London seems to have heard of it. I have also had extreme uncontrollable fatigue or tiredness since I was a young child, now my daughter, 10, has had the same problems. I recently noticed that I have a lot of the symptoms of low acid after reading an article in the local paper in October.

It’s important to address the causes of low stomach acid, rather than applying a bandaid that may only make things a lot worse. I need help with HCL.

In fact, taking Betaine HCl to improve my stomach acid saved my digestion. If you made it out to our seminar with Bruce Topping about digestive health, you’ll know he talked a lot about Betaine Hydrochloride, or HCl, and how it can help to level out stomach acid production. Lack of stomach acid may play a role in vitiligo. Supplementing with betaine HCL may help repigment the skin. can reduce food-allergy reactions by helping to break down protein before it is absorbed.

Betaine HCl stands for Betaine Hydrochloride. Many people use it to optimize their digestion, assist with occassional heartburn, and promote the optimal extraction of nutrients from food.

I live in an area where it’s difficult to find a good doctor. So I feel quite stuck. Sorry, a beaten raw egg white…half of teaspoon every ten minutes.

Antacids, such as Mylanta, Rolaids and Tums, may provide quick relief. But antacids alone won’t heal an inflamed esophagus damaged by stomach acid. Overuse of some antacids can cause side effects, such as diarrhea or sometimes kidney problems. X-ray of your upper digestive system. X-rays are taken after you drink a chalky liquid that coats and fills the inside lining of your digestive tract.

Some health bloggers argue that most adults should supplement with betaine HCl. Additionally, drug absorption for Treatment C was 5% higher than Treatment A, which suggests that betaine HCl could slightly boost the effectiveness of dasatinib in the absence of hypochlorhydria (4).

The conventional system is a “for profit” industry, at the expense of our health. So I have a couple Questions for you. I have not suffered with Reflux or Gerd before.

But trust me. there is nothing to worry about. Dr. Wright reports that the common Betaine HCL dosage range in his clinical practice is 3,250-4,550mg per meal. That means there are also plenty of people who need above 5,000mg for an effective dosage. When you say “Vary your dosage of Betaine HCl depending on how much protein you ate” it simply does not apply to everyone. HI Denis – hard to say the exact reason, but perhaps betaine HCl is not right for you at this time.

This natural process is necessary to break down our food into smaller components so it can be properly absorbed in the intestinal tract. At the bottom of the esophagus is a ring of muscle (sphincter) that closes in order to keep the contents of the stomach from surging back up during this digestive process. When acid reflux strikes, you want to fix it right away. The most common response to acid reflux is taking antacids such as an H2 blocker or proton-pump inhibitor (PPI). These drugs drastically reduce the hydrochloric acid produced by the stomach.

HI Mia, great question. It’s very common for people to stop short of their needed Betaine HCL dosage. In fact, in the beginning I was nervous about taking 6 pills at a meal.

Last year I thought I might be going blind. Seriously. I’ve had rosacea for a couple of years but it was never out of control or too much of a problem.

Still, I get bouts of acid reflux and even was on Omeprezole for 8 weeks from DEC 2015 to FEB 2016. Hi Hannah – we don’t advise against using betaine HCL if you have h. pylori, but it sounds like you might need more support than just that. Hey Michael – we think you’re right to be looking at potential root causes for your low stomach acid like candida. Hi Solis – thanks for reaching out!

Providentially I started reading Liz Lipski’s book Digestive Wellness (amazing book, so comprehensive!) She had several sections dealing with HCl supplementation and one of them mentioned people with rosacea also have low stomach acid. I bought a bottle of 250mg HCl w/pepsin the next day and started taking one capsule with each meal. Just that very tiny amount was enough to begin making a difference.

I have taken betain with pepsin before. It seemed to cause acid reflux, but I never felt any warmth in my belly. I was not too serious about it but should try it again. I initially felt so sick to my stomach taking it.
